Learn how to make delicious Salted Honey Cinnamon Cookies. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

If you’re out of all-purpose flour, a blend of whole wheat and all-purpose flour can add a nutty depth. And if you prefer a stronger vanilla flavor, double the vanilla extract for an extra boost.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. This step always reminds me of the anticipation of my grandmother’s kitchen, waiting for something delicious.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the honey, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until well combined. The honey adds a natural sweetness that’s hard to resist.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. This spice was a staple in my childhood home, adding warmth to everything from cookies to oatmeal.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as it can make the cookies tough.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each to allow for spreading.
  7. Lightly sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of coarse sea salt. The salt balances the sweetness and enhances the cinnamon flavor.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Every oven is different, so keep a close eye on them after the 10-minute mark.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
